Cops hunt trio who fled after fatal Bentong crash

Police are hunting three men who fled after a fatal three-vehicle crash at Jalan Mempaga-Sertik in Bentong, Pahang, on Monday.

Acting Pahang police chief Azry Akmar Ayob said the suspects, in their 20s and 30s, had been identified and were suspected of being linked to a vehicle theft case.

He said the man who rented the vehicle to them had been detained.

“The detained man, in his 30s, tested positive for drugs and is being remanded pending charges in court,” he was quoted as saying by Bernama today.

In the accident, a motorcyclist was killed when a Perodua Myvi and a Honda HR-V collided on Jalan Mempaga-Sertik.

Bentong police chief Zaiham Kahar previously said the driver and two passengers of the Myvi were believed to have abandoned the car and fled into a nearby oil palm plantation after the crash.
