EPL: Jackson Fires Brace As Aston Villa Halt Man City’s Winning Run

Translate

Aston Villa handed Manchester City their first Premier League defeat of the season with a hard-fought 2-1 victory at Villa Park, thanks to a brace from Nicolas Jackson.

Unai Emery’s side once again proved too strong for Enzo Maresca’s men on home soil, extending their impressive run against City to four consecutive home victories.

Villa combined clinical finishing, defensive discipline and intelligent counterattacking to overcome a City side that had won their opening seven league matches of the campaign.

Jackson gave the hosts an early lead in the sixth minute, capitalising on Villa’s bright start to put City on the back foot.

However, the visitors responded after the break, with Erling Haaland finding the equaliser in the 52nd minute to restore parity.

The Senegalese striker had the final say, though, as Jackson struck again on the hour mark to restore Villa’s advantage and send the home supporters into celebration.

Despite dominating possession for extended periods and creating several promising opportunities, City struggled to break down Villa’s resolute defence in search of a second equaliser.

Goalkeeper Zion Suzuki played a crucial role in preserving the hosts’ lead, while Villa’s disciplined defensive unit stood firm under pressure to secure a memorable victory.
