‘X-Men’s Christopher Abbott Admits He “Hasn’t Read Anything” Yet But “Can’t Wait” To Play Professor X

Although Charles Xavier has the power to read minds, Christopher Abbott is being kept in the dark about his next big role.

The actor, who was cast as Professor X in Marvel Studios‘ X-Men movie, recently noted he’s “very much” excited to get to work on the Jake Schreier-helmed superhero movie, despite still having not seen a script.

“I haven’t read anything yet. Nothing,” Abbott told Entertainment Tonight. “I’m not even being coy. It’s true, I haven’t read anything. But I’m excited to work with Jake Schreier, I think he’s a great director, and that cast is really good. I can’t wait. I love X-Men.”

Taking over the role of Charles Xavier/Professor X from Sir Patrick Stewart and James McAvoy, Abbott’s casting was announced in August.

Abbott joins Adam Driver as Nathaniel Millbury/Mister Sinister, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, Maya Boyd as Storm, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost and Asa Germann as Angel.

Scheduled to premiere May 5, 2028 in theaters, Marvel tapped Schreier to direct X-Men last May after his previous MCU title Thunderbolts* premiered. Beef creator Lee Sung Jin and The Bear showrunner Joanna Calo are writing the script.
