JM Ibarra, Elijah Canlas, Emilio Daez team up in new film ‘One for the Road’


Three of the current rising actors JM Ibarra, Elijah Canlas and Emilio Daez are set to share the screen in Regal Entertainment Inc.’s upcoming film “One for the Road.”
Regal Entertainment announced the cast on its social media platforms on Saturday, Aug. 22, sharing an art card featuring the three actors.
“Regal Entertainment Inc. proudly announces the cast of ONE FOR THE ROAD. COMING SOON IN CINEMAS,” read the company’s post.

The film will be directed and written by Kip Oebanda, whose previous works include “Bar Boys,” “Liway” and “Balota.”

“Liway,” which premiered in 2018, earned acclaim for its story about a political prisoner and her young son during the Marcos dictatorship. Oebanda later returned to Cinemalaya with the award-winning entry “Balota,” starring Marian Rivera.
For “One for the Road,” Oebanda shares writing credits with Victor Villanueva, known for the acclaimed comedy-drama “Patay na si Hesus.”
According to the press release, the upcoming film follows four working-class friends who leave their daily routines behind for a spontaneous road trip.

Canlas will play Ariel, while Daez and Ibarra will portray Luke and Garry, respectively. A fourth character, Jomar, is also part of the story, but the actor who will play the role has not been announced yet.

Ibarra rose to fame as a housemate on “Pinoy Big Brother: Gen 11” in 2024. His stint on the reality show eventually led to an on-screen partnership with fellow housemate Fyang Smith.

After “PBB,” Ibarra made his acting debut in the iWant series “Ghosting” and the Cinemalaya film “Child No. 82: Anak ni Boy Kana.” He also appeared in the 2025 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry “Shake, Rattle & Roll: Evil Origins.”
His most recent project was “Almost Us,” his first lead movie with Smith. The romantic film, directed by Dan Villegas, opened in cinemas in May 2026 and earned P23 million in its second week.
Canlas, meanwhile, became a household name after starring in the 2020 boys’ love series “Gameboys.” He earned a Best Actor win at the Asian Film Festival in Rome for “Kalel, 15.”
He later appeared in the TV shows “Senior High,” and “High Street.” He most recently starred in the films “Sunshine” and “HB2ME.”
Daez, on the other hand, entered show business through the TV series “Pamilya Sagrado” before joining “Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition,” where he gained a wider following.
He landed his first major lead acting role in the iWant Original series “Love at First Spike.” He also starred in the film “Romance Reboot” alongside Kaori Oinuma and Shanaia Gomez.
