NBI intends to finish ‘honey trap plot’ probe in 3 to 5 days

MANILA, Philippines — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) intends to finish its investigation into the supposed “honey trap” plot against Executive Secretary Ralph Recto in three to five days, according to Director Melvin Matibag on Wednesday.
This came after the bureau recently subpoenaed the personalities implicated in the supposed modus, such as Batangas 1st District Rep. Leandro Leviste, former Cong. Jing Paras and four lawyers from the Rondain and Mendiola Law Firm.
“Baka tapusin namin yung investigation report in the next few days so we can file the charges (before the Department of Justice) na kinakailangan kung meron man,” Matibag said in a chance interview on Wednesday when asked about the timeline of the investigation.

The investigation into the supposed “honey trap” operation started after a talent manager—identified only as Alias Ken—who was recently arrested for a human trafficking case, claimed that there is a “honey trap” plot against Recto.
Ken claimed that he met with Paras and the lawyers in July to supposedly plan the “character assassination.”The lawyers, who allegedly introduced themselves as Leviste’s representatives, were tasked with crafting a “script,” or fabricated statements targeting Recto, the talent manager said.

Ken also claimed that Leviste was the financier of the supposed modus.
All of the implicated individuals denied the allegations. /apl
