President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has appointed three new Court of Appeals (CA) Associate Judges — one of them being the daughter of former Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin’s daughter, according to the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) on Wednesday.
In a Facebook post, the PCO said that Marcos has appointed Allan Batarra Gepty, Leilani Marie N. Dacanay-Grimares, and Pia Cristina B. Bersamin-Embuscado as the new CA judges.
“Their appointments reinforce the judiciary and support the administration of justice in the country,” the PCO said.
Bersamin-Embuscado is the daughter of the former executive secretary, Lucas Bersamin, who resigned from his post in 2025 following corruption allegations made by former lawmaker Zaldy Co. He was then replaced by current Executive Secretary Ralph Recto.
Bersamin-Embuscado was appointed presiding judge for the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 198 of Las Piñas City by former President Rodrigo Duterte in 2018.
Meanwhile, Gepty was an undersecretary at the Department of Trade and Industry, while Dacanay-Grimares was the presiding judge of the RTC Branch 294 of Parañaque City. — BAP, GMA News
