KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 30 — The flood situation in Negeri Sembilan, Perak and Kedah remained largely unchanged this morning, with 119 evacuees still taking shelter at temporary relief centres (PPS) across the three states.

In NEGERI SEMBILAN, two PPS were opened early this morning at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Undang Johol and Dewan Orang Ramai Dangi in Kuala Pilah, accommodating 71 evacuees from 30 families as of 8.30am.

According to the Social Welfare Department’s (JKM) InfoBencana portal, the evacuees comprised 24 men, 32 women and 15 children.

In PERAK, 23 people from seven families were evacuated to a PPS at SK Titi Serong in the Kerian district following persistent rain yesterday.

The Perak State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) Secretariat said in a statement today that all the evacuees were residents of Taman Aman Sejahtera and Taman Desa Aman 1 in Titi Serong.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has forecast rain and thunderstorms in several districts in Perak this afternoon, including Kinta, Kuala Kangsar, Kampar, Manjung, Batang Padang and Muallim.

In KEDAH, 25 evacuees from eight families remained at the PPS at Dewan Pejabat Penghulu Mukim Bukit Raya as of 8am today.

The Kedah JPBN said in a statement that all 25 evacuees were from Kampung Pulai and Kampung Senggora.

Meanwhile, Perlis has fully recovered from the floods following the closure of the PPS at Dewan Batu 5 at 9am today, after operating as a transit centre since last Monday.

Kuala Perlis Civil Defence Unit officer Lieutenant (PA) Muhamad Saiful Abdullah said all nine evacuees from three families who had been sheltering at the hall were allowed to return home after the floodwaters fully receded. — Bernama
