The remains of veteran Nollywood actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, have arrived in his hometown, Ilaro, Ogun State, for his burial, as actress Ireti Osayemi also arrived in the town to pay her last respects.
In a video shared by X user #DammieDammie, the body of the late actor was received amid an outpouring of grief, with family members, colleagues and residents gathering for the final rites.
Osayemi, in a video posted by Emiralty Africa via Instagram on Monday, arrived in Ilaro for the burial of the veteran actor, whose death has thrown the Yoruba film industry into mourning.
PUNCH Online had earlier reported that Hassan died on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at the age of 66, after battling stage-four cancer.
His death came days after his daughters, Kira and Lima Taiwo, made emotional appeals for urgent medical assistance, revealing that their father was battling the advanced stage of the disease.
The family had sought medical intervention and specialists capable of reviewing his case after doctors reportedly informed them that chemotherapy could no longer be administered due to his condition.
Multiple sources, including Best of Nollywood founder Seun Oloketuyi, confirmed the veteran actor’s death, while veteran actor Jide Kosoko later announced the burial arrangements.
According to the arrangements, Hassan’s remains were to be taken to Ilaro, where a laying-in-state ceremony would be held at the Pavilion on Monday before his burial.
