The final three matches of the FIFA Intercontinental Cup will take place in Qatar for the third consecutive year, with European champion Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) playing in the final in Doha on December 16.
The competition, started originally as a successor to the old Club World Cup, brings together some of the biggest clubs from around the world. Real Madrid won the maiden edition of the tournament in 2024. It was the last trophy for Carlo Ancelotti with Los Blancos before he moved on to become the head coach of Brazil.
Last year, PSG beat Brazilian giant Flamengo to win the trophy, and will look to defend the crown at the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium in Al Rayyan. The French side had won the title 2-1 on penalties, after the contest ended 1-1 in regulation time.
“Once again, the world will unite in Qatar for a spectacular celebration of football, as we welcome continental champions for the third consecutive year. We are proud to build on the success of the previous two editions, as we get ready to deliver yet another successful FIFA Intercontinental Cup,” H.E. Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, LOC Chairman and Minister of Sports and Youth of Qatar, said.
