EUROMATCH NPFL: Sporting Lagos vs Rivers United Postponed Indefinitely

Translate

The Matchday 12 fixture between Sporting Lagos and Rivers United has been postponed indefinitely with a new date to be announced in the days ahead.

This was announced on the official X handle of the EUROMATCH Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) on Saturday, 7 November 2026.

The game was set for today (Saturday) at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena (Onikan Stadium) in Lagos.

Sporting Lagos first announced the delay on Thursday, 5 November 2026, stating the venue would not be available. The club did not give further specifics on why the stadium could not be used.

Also, Sporting Lagos said fans who had already bought tickets would be contacted by email regarding the situation.

However, other Matchday 12 fixtures were still scheduled to go ahead across various venues that weekend.

This is not the first time Sporting Lagos has faced venue-related issues at Onikan this season (a similar problem affected an earlier Lagos derby).

Rivers United, managed by Finidi George, had been preparing for the away trip after a recent 1-1 home draw with defending champions Enugu Rangers.
