India began its FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup 2026 second-round campaign with a 1-3 loss to host Netherlands on Saturday.
While the Dutch entered the semifinals with this win, the Harmanpreet Singh-led Indian team is not yet out of contention for a berth in the last four. India had advanced to the second stage of the competition after finishing second in Pool D.
How can India qualify for the Hockey World Cup semifinals?
Despite losing to the Dutch, India still has a chance to make the semifinals of the World Cup. However, it will depend on the other Pool-E match later in the day between England and Argentina.
