Delhi techie dies after assault by in-laws following dispute with wife

A 31-year-old software engineer allegedly died after being assaulted by his wife’s family members following a matrimonial dispute at his residence in outer Delhi’s Nihal Vihar on Friday, police said. Police said four people have been detained for questioning but not yet arrested.
A case under sections 103(1) (murder) and 3(5) (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered.

Police identified the deceased as Vinay Gupta, a resident of Laxmi Park, who married about three and a half years ago. Police did not identify the wife. They have four-and-a-half-month-old twin children, a boy and a girl, police said.
Wife called family after argument
According to police, a dispute broke out between the couple at their residence on Friday morning.
“Following the argument, Gupta’s wife called her family members, who reached the couple’s house in Nihal Vihar. The woman’s family members allegedly assaulted Gupta severely. He sustained injuries in the assault and later died,” a senior police officer said.
Gupta was employed as a software engineer with an MNC in Noida, while his wife is a homemaker.
