Translate

Rakesh Kumar, a Hindu trader, was shot dead by unidentified armed men in Pakistan's Balochistan on Friday.

According to a report by Dawn, some armed men broke into his shop in the Qadirabad Stop area of Noshki Bazaar, the police said. When Kumar tried to resist, the men opened fire and fled. Kumar was killed on the spot.

When the police received the information, they rushed to the area and took the body to the district hospital, where the victim was identified as Rakesh Kumar.

A case was then registered against the unidentified armed men.

Gurpal Singh, a member of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Assembly, condemned the killing and called it a cowardly act by anti-state and anti-Balochistan elements.

In a statement on Saturday, he said, "The Hindu community has been an integral part of Balochistan for centuries and has repeatedly demonstrated its loyalty to Pakistan and Balochistan."

He said that such hostile elements would never succeed in spreading hatred and fear among the people by targeting Hindu civilians.

The member of the provincial assembly called on the Balochistan government and law-enforcement agencies to immediately identify and bring to justice the killers of Kumar, their facilitators and those behind the attack.
