Serie A | Cagliari 1-0 Frosinone: Adopo shoots ambitious Canarini down

Michel Adopo’s strike allowed Cagliari to end their six-game winless drought and take down high-flying Frosinone, as both goalkeepers performed heroics.
The Sardinians were in total crisis mode after four straight defeats, with Adam Obert suspended, Yerry Mina, M’Bala Nzola, Alieu Fadera, Riyad Idrissi and Mattia Felici injured. Yael Trepy got his first start since almost drowning on August 17. The Canarini lost top scorer Antonio Raimondo to a sprained ankle after winning three of the last four games to surge into sixth place, with Florian Grillitsch still on the treatment table.
See how it all unfolded on the Liveblog.

Trepy had the first shot on goal, testing Lorenzo Palmisani from distance with a snapshot, but then had to limp off with a suspected hamstring strain after just 27 minutes.
Fares Ghedjemis also had a pop from far out, as did Giacomo Calò with a couple of strikes from distance that forced Elia Caprile into difficult saves.
Just as Frosinone were pouring forward, Cagliari took the lead when Michel Adopo combined with Paul Mendy in midfield and dribbled to the edge of the area, lashing the right-foot finish into the top corner.

Palmisani performed a simply extraordinary reaction save after the restart to deny Mendy the tap-in from five yards on a corner, with Caprile showing what he was capable of too, denying Calò on the Ghedjemis pull-back from the by-line.
Frosinone were unlucky not to equalise on 73 minutes from a corner, when first Cichella’s strike from six yards was fingertipped onto the underside of the bar, then Caprile also denied the Daniel Birligea follow-up.

Birligea was kept out by a desperate Kofler defensive block at the near post, while Kevin Carlos wasted the chance to seal it late on by blasting over the bar.
