Legend Of Zelda: Majora's Mask Remake Officially Teased

Translate

Known as 'Cyberpunk 2077's' biggest fan, Angharad is a Welsh games writer who thrives in anything related to digital storytelling. If a video game explores the intricacies and horrors of womanhood, she is there.

Thanks to previous work at GAMINGbible, GameByte, The Loadout, Game Luster, Angharad has built a strong understanding of both the digital world and what fans want from it and is eager to share her thoughts and expertise with readers.

It has been 26 years since the launch of The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, and whilst it may not be talked about on the same scale as the likes of Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker, it is still regarded as one of the greatest video games of all time.

First launching on the Nintendo 64, it is safe to say that we have come a long way since Link arrived in a parallel world where he becomes entwined in a quest to prevent the moon from crashing in just three days' time. Whilst it did receive an enhanced remake back in 2015 for the Nintendo 3DS, fans are hoping that a Nintendo Switch remake may be on the cards. Luckily, they may be correct according to a recent discovery.

Spotted by one fan over on r/zelda, "The Majora’s Mask card in today's Nintendo Today App Zelda cards look suspiciously highly detailed…"

The cards the user is referring to are The Legend of Zelda Collectible Cards, digital cards that are available as part of the Nintendo Today! app, which launched as part of celebrations of the 40th anniversary of the franchise as a whole. Featuring daily drops, fans are able to open a new digital card or booster pack once per day, with each card offering characters, items, and key moments from across the history of the Zelda franchise.

Not only that, but with daily quizzes, medals and awards, and customization options, it is no wonder that this app is taking the fanbase by storm, and now, according to one user, a recent card drop may have just hinted at a potential The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask remake.

Despite the Nintendo Today! app not allowing screenshots to be taken, the brand-new card has still managed to be shared on Reddit, and as you can see, it definitely looks like an enhanced version of the 2000 title. "I also caught this picture this morning but assumed it was the MM “remaster” for 3Ds artwork assets," the user shared. "Seeing it again now, and it does look slightly better than 3Ds artwork assets. If MM is getting the Ocarina-style remaster, maybe they did them together?!? A man can dream."

Not only that, but another user posted another tidbit of information. "Someone also previously mentioned that the Majora’s Mask title card was updated in the recent 40th Anniversary Zelda Direct. Let the copium commence!"

At the time of writing, a Nintendo Switch remake of The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask has not been confirmed, and so it is worth taking all of this information with a pinch of salt. They may have just enhanced the image for the sake of the app. However, with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake launching in just a few weeks' time, we can never say never when it comes to the same treatment for other entries in the franchise.

Hopefully, if The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake sells well, it will inspire Nintendo to revisit the past once more, and give fans what they are so desperately craving.
