An 80-year-old Israeli woman staying at a hotel in Paris, France, was attacked overnight Friday, the Foreign Ministry stated on Saturday.

No further details have been provided at this stage regarding the circumstances of the incident, the identity of the attacker, or the woman’s condition.

Following the report of the attack, Israel’s consul in Paris and the Foreign Ministry’s department responsible for assisting Israelis in distress abroad contacted the woman and her family.

The Foreign Ministry said the officials are maintaining continuous contact with them, working with local authorities to continue handling the case, and providing assistance to the Israeli woman as much as possible.

The motivation for the attack, antisemitic or otherwise, has not been confirmed.

Three women attacked in Paris with kitchen knives

Earlier this year in July, a man was arrested in Paris after wounding three people with two kitchen knives, police stated on Monday.

The incident took place near Place de Clichy, police stated, adding that the three victims were taken to the hospital.

French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez told reporters that all three victims were women.

According to a press release, the attacker fits the profile of someone with mental health issues, as stated by a source close to the investigation.

In a video shared on social media, the man, who is being restrained by several individuals during his arrest, appears somewhat disoriented as he quietly says, "Allah commanded me."
