Man rushed to hospital following assault at central London tourist hotspot

A man has been rushed to hospital following an assault in Leicester Square last night.
Emergency services were called just after 9pm on Tuesday to the busy tourist spot.
A man was taken to hospital with injuries.
Police officers remain at the scene this morning with a large cordon in place.
Tourists are reportedly gathering to take photos with the Bridget Jones statue, which is inside part of the cordon, but are struggling because it is inaccessible.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called at 9.06pm yesterday to reports of an assault in Leicester Square.
"We sent an ambulance crew, an incident response officer and dispatched a trauma team in a car from London’s Air Ambulance.
"The first paramedic arrived in less than three minutes.
"We treated a patient at the scene and took him to a major trauma centre as a priority."
