Translate

Netflix has announced the Season 2 premiere date for “Blue Eye Samurai.”

The second season of the popular adult animated series will debut on the streamer on Jan. 19, 2027. That is more than three years since the first season aired in Nov. 2023.

The official logline for Season 2 states, “In Season 2, Mizu’s (Maya Erskine) bloody quest continues in London, where she faces new friends, old foes, and her own demons. In Japan, Akemi (Brenda Song) and Taigen (Darren Barnet) navigate Edo Castle under a dangerous new Shogun, while Ringo (Masi Oka) searches for new purpose.

Along with Erskine, Song, Barnet, and Oka, the cast of the series’ second season includes Jonathan Pryce, Joel Kim Booster, Sherry Cola, and more. Season 1 cast members included Kenneth Branagh, George Takei, Randall Park, Stephanie Hsu, and Ming-Na Wen among several others.

Michael Green and Amber Noizumi are the creators, writers, and executive producers on “Blue Eye Samurai.” Erwin Stoff is also an executive producer. Jane Wu serves as supervising director and producer. Blue Spirit serves as the animation studio.

It was announced back in August that “Blue Eye Samurai” has already been renewed for a third season, which will also be the show’s last. The final season is slated to debut in 2028.

The first season of “Blue Eye Samurai” ultimately won four Creative Arts Emmy Awards back in 2024, including the award for Outstanding Animated Program, beating out shows like “Scavengers Reign,” “The Simpsons,” “X-Men ‘97,” and “Bob’s Burgers.”
