Pricey tickets still available for Springboks-All Blacks Test at Ellis Park

Translate

Although there is a great expectation that this Saturday’s Test between the Springboks and All Blacks at Ellis Park will be a sell-out, fast-acting fans can still get their hands on some tickets.

Several weeks ago, the Test had been touted as a sell-out, but some tickets have notably been put back up for sale on the eve of the opening match in Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry series.

It’s believed that over 1,000 tickets were still available as of midday on Wednesday, 19 August, but the cheapest available were priced at R1,650.

Others could be bought at R2,850 and the most high-priced options were still available at R4,000.

Last-minute tickets expected to be snapped up for the Springboks’ Test at Ellis Park

Despite the high price points, which have been a discussion topic already this season, the last batch of tickets are expected to be sold before kick off at 17:10.

Springbok assistant coach Felix Jones said on Tuesday both the Boks and All Blacks would be equally prepared going into Saturday’s opening Test.

“New Zealand have had their franchise games, and we’ve had Argentina for some players, while a group of players remained behind in South Africa to do specific work.

“I don’t think any preparation really replicates the level of intensity you’re going to experience when New Zealand plays South Africa. But I think both teams would say going into this game that they feel prepared.

“We saw that in Auckland last year where they scored early and we had to grind our way back,” he said.

“So, we know we have to start with a huge amount of intensity. It’s almost a given when you play New Zealand that they start fast.”
