The movie produced by Mercury Studios will chronicle the farewell show by Osbourne and his Sabbath bandmates, guitarist Tony Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler and drummer Bill Ward, a blowout all-day hard rock gathering of the tribes in Osbourne’s hometown of Birmingham, U.K. at his beloved Aston Villa football club’s home stadium at Villa Park on July 5, 2025.

The concert featured both solo sets from Osbourne and a reunion of the original Sabbath lineup for the first time in more than two decades, along with a murderer’s row of performers influenced by the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame icon. Hosted by actor Jason Momoa and overseen by musical director RATM guitarist Tom Morello, the epic concert featured sets from Alice in Chains, Anthrax, Guns N’ Roses, Lamb of God, Mastodon, Metallica, Pantera, Slayer and Tool, as well special guests Smashing Pumpkins leader Billy Corgan, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, Sammy Hagar, Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler, Yungblud, Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and many more.

“Back to the Beginning came about because I asked Ozzy what would really make him happy,” said Osbourne’s widow and longtime manager, Sharon Osbourne, in a statement about the 100-minute film. “And he said the only thing that would make him happy was if he could perform again and say goodbye to his fans. That’s all he wanted to do. He wanted to say goodbye and thank you.”

Osbourne, who battled a variety of medical issues in the final years of his life and had trouble standing and walking near the end of his life, sang from a gilded throne during the event, which took place 17 days before his death at 76 on July 22, 2025.
