Translate

Two men have been charged over a shooting that left another man in hospital and sparked a manhunt in WA’s Mid West yesterday.

Five people were arrested after Geraldton man Ashley Wayne Cameron was shot in the leg in the early hours of Wednesday.

Officers rushed to the scene in Moonyoonooka, about 12 kilometres outside the regional city’s town centre, about 1am, arriving to find Cameron with a wound to his leg.

Later that morning, police arrested five people Hart Street in Utakarra.

Here’s what’s making headlines elsewhere today:

Good morning readers, and welcome to our live news blog for Thursday, October 1.

Making headlines today is the latest from Mexico, where a verdict date has been set for three men accused of murder over the deaths of two Perth brothers and their American friend.

The grief-stricken parents of Jake and Callum Robinson made an emotional plea to the court as the trial of the three Mexican men neared its conclusion on Wednesday.

The judge set a date for closing arguments next Thursday (Mexico time), and a verdict the following day, which is just hours before Debra and Martin Robinson are due to fly back to Perth after spending the past four weeks in Ensenada for the trial.
