The announcement of the Ocarina of Time Remake as part of The Legend of Zelda's 40th anniversary celebrations really did bring home just how significant a milestone it is for any gaming series. In what is sure to be a full circle moment for a lot of 90s gamers, we'll finally be able to revisit one of the best games of all time, only this time with modern visuals and gameplay features.

The initial confirmation really didn't give us any information about the game at all, but a dedicated Nintendo Direct has since answered many of the questions players may have had, including the specific date of its arrival. As we know, though, things are rarely smooth in the gaming industry, and there was every chance that the date would be moved to accommodate a little more development time.

Happily, the most recent update we have seen from the developer themselves should put those fears to bed, barring some kind of last-minute disaster.

Ocarina Of Time Is Still On Track For November

As first reported by Vice, Nintendo recently shared a detailed investor statement that goes into their financial state for the last year or so, as well as what their plans are moving forward. This included a detailed breakdown of upcoming sources of income, and several games were mentioned as part of that forecast:

"Nintendo Switch 2 is now in its second year since launch in June 2025 and sales continue to be strong. We aim to maintain the momentum for the hardware and see it delivered together with software into the hands of a wide range of consumers. The Nintendo Switch 2 software lineup added Splatoon Raiders in July, and titles scheduled for release include Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave in September, Nintendo Switch Sports Resort in October, and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time also in 2026."

That bodes well for Nintendo's current plans because we have already seen both Splatoon Raiders and Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave arrive bang on time, with Nintendo Switch Sports Resort up next this month. Unless something genuinely unprecedented happens, the currently scheduled release date of November 5 seems to be nailed on.

That gives it a couple of weeks of runway out in the wild before the arrival of GTA VI, with Ocarina remaining one of the few games that has been brave enough to launch in November at all.

Zelda Has Plenty More On The Way

Heading into 2027, Legend of Zelda fans also have the upcoming movie adaptation to look forward to. We now know a little more about what that is going to be like, with the film set to take place in a continuity all of its own, though many of the series' most familiar characters are still set to feature in some capacity.
