John Boyega reveals he has been secretly married for two years and will soon be a father

John Boyega has revealed that he has been married for the past two years and is expecting his first child.

In a recent interview with The Guardian, the Star Wars star disclosed his relationship status and added that he and his wife are expecting their first son.

He also joked that the small ceremony he and his wife held was similar to that of Braveheart, where Mel Gibson’s William Wallace held a secret wedding with his bride.

“Will you come with me?” he said in a growl while mimicking the action of swinging a sword.

“We both like the idea of celebrating something established,” he said as he explained the small and private wedding, “rather than celebrating the entry.”

However, he revealed that he and his wife, who he did not name, would “love” to have a traditional Nigerian ceremony at some point in the future.

Alongside the marriage, he also shared that he has got a “baby cooking”.

His wife has been speculated to be Lashontae Heckard

“My life is completely, completely fulfilled in terms of family. It’s been so nice with the timing.”

Boyega said that imagining himself as a parent has been “funny,” though stressed that he is determined on being “present, consistent and full of love.”

“I’ve tried to, as much as possible – especially following periods when I’ve worked a lot – to de-centre my career,” he said. “There have been certain moments when I’ve known that this is a time for family. Y’know, there’s stuff to do.”

Rumours are rife that his bride is model Lashontae Heckard, also known as Tae Heckard. The pair only exclusively follow each other on Instagram and she has changed her name on the platform to Tae Boyega.

In an Instagram carousel last month, she shared a zoomed in photo of Boyega’s face as she used the reflected in his sunglasses to take a selfie.
