'Avengers Endgame: Encore': Re-release eyes Rs 10 crore debut

Marvel Studios’ 'Avengers: Endgame' is gearing up for its global re-release with the new title 'Avengers Endgame: Encore'. The makers have also attached new footage to the film, thus extending its official runtime and also connecting the film to the next big 'Avengers' instalment, 'Avengers: Doomsday'.As the film lines up for its September 25 release, advance ticket sales have opened, prompting fans to lineup to catch the box office blockbuster all over again before heading into theatres this December to witness 'Doomsday'. As per box office reports, the film is off to a strong start, with the re-release reportedly eyeing a double-digit opening at the box office.As per sacnilk, the film has already sold more than 7,750 tickets on BookMyShow within the first few hours of advance bookings opening up in the country.

With the release still around two weeks away from its September 25 theatrical return, the early response has sparked speculation that 'Endgame Encore' could deliver one of the biggest re-release openings in India.The film has also crossed 172,000 interests on the booking platform, indicating strong anticipation for the film's return to the big screen.

‘Endgame Encore’ eyes double-digit opening

Trade estimates currently suggest an opening of around Rs 6-7 crore gross in India.

However, with the number of tickets already sold and fans showing great interest in the film's release, early predictions indicate that the film could be eyeing a Rs 10 crore opening, if it can keep up the momentum over the next two weeks.The Endgame Encore screenings will also be available across multiple premium formats in India, including IMAX and Infinity Vision. The film is scheduled to release in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

'Avengers: Endgame Encore' is arriving in theatres to build anticipation for 'Avengers: Doomsday', which is scheduled to release on December 18, 2026. The re-release will give Marvel fans another opportunity to revisit the conclusion of the Infinity Saga while also providing an introduction to the 'Doomsday' plot and 'Avengers: Secret Wars' that eventually concludes the 'Multiverse Saga'.Reports indicate that the Encore version includes additional footage and a new post-credits scene, with select screenings carrying a Doomsday preview.Meanwhile, 'Avengers: Doomsday' has already generated more than USD 50 million in advance ticket sales in the US.

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, 'Avengers: Endgame' originally released in April 2019 and went on to become a global box-office phenomenon. According to Box Office Mojo, its original theatrical run grossed USD 2.799 billion worldwide, making it the second-highest grossing film of all time, just behind James Cameron's 'Avatar'. Following the re-release, the film will get another shot to come the highest-grossing film of all time.In India, 'Endgame: Encore' will release in multiple languages.
