At 19, Chloë Grace Moretz bought a Spanish-style Los Angeles home for $3.4 million in 2016; seven years later, the half-acre estate, with an updated kitchen, sold for $5.65 million, $2.25 million above its purchase price

Chloë Grace Moretz was only 19 when she bought her first house in Los Angeles. She was already working in films. In 2016, she paid $3.4 million for a Spanish-style home in Studio City, according to a report by Realtor.com.

Before that, Moretz and her parents had rented a place in Bel-Air. So this purchase marked her move from renting to owning.

The house sits on about half an acre. Spanning roughly 6,700 square feet, it has a double-height great room with a fireplace that anchors the main floor. Designed with entertaining in mind, the house also has a den, a theatre and five bedrooms, giving family and friends plenty of room to spread out.

“The master suite is a true oasis, complete with a sitting area, fireplace, dual walk-in closets, and an oversized bathroom with a jacuzzi tub,” the Redfin listing said.

The bedrooms get plenty of natural light and feature soaring ceilings and custom details throughout. The sellers updated the kitchen before the sale. It has a large island, a breakfast nook and high-end appliances.

The outdoor space is equally exceptional. There is a patio, a living area with a fireplace and an outdoor kitchen beside a pool and spa.

The house also has a separate studio with its own kitchenette, giving guests a place of their own. The garage can accommodate several cars, and there is additional parking in the walled courtyard.

Chloë Grace Moretz lived in the home for seven years. In February 2023, she listed the property for almost $6 million, with an asking price of about $5.995 million. The sale closed in March 2023 at $5.65 million, slightly below the asking price.

The $5.65 million sale price may look like a win because it was $2.25 million more than she paid. From that perspective, the increase was about 66 per cent. However, this figure does not account for estate agent fees, closing costs or renovation expenses.

Studio City has long attracted high-profile buyers and sellers. In December 2025, Olivia Wilde sold her sprawling Studio City home for $5.23 million. Interestingly, the sale came amid speculation about her romance with British art dealer Caspar Jopling.

She bought the house in March 2023 for $5.9 million and listed it for $6.2 million two years later. The property was described as “an exceptionally private modern-ranch retreat” in the Redfin listing.

“Sunswept is at once private, pedigreed, and deeply livable – an extraordinary creative compound designed for both entertaining and everyday life, just moments from Erewhon, Equinox, and the best Ventura Boulevard has to offer,” the listing says.
