Coronation Street confirms gun showdown as Jodie is finally caught out

Coronation Street fans will see shots fired at No. 8 next week when unhinged Jodie Ramsey's dangerous obsession with stealing her sister Shona's life is finally exposed.

Paramedics rush to the Platt house to tend to an injured person following a showdown that sees both sisters let rip at each other. For weeks, Jodie has orchestrated a vicious campaign against Shona, determined to replace her in her marriage and family. But after the sound of gunfire rings out across the cobbles, who is left fighting for their life?

"This is the ultimate sibling showdown as both Jodie and Shona turn their fury on each other," warns our cobbles spy. "They have such a dark, complicated history, as well as the vile and calculated things Jodie has done in recent months. It's no wonder that everything explodes and that somebody is going to be badly hurt."

One major fly in the ointment with Jodie's plan is her dad, Doug. She's tried to stop him from exposing her crazy antics by meddling with his bipolar medication – and it looks as if her nasty plan is working when David reveals that Doug has taken kitchen items from the Platts to his campervan.

Jodie brushes it off - however, his actions deeply disturb Shona, who fears she may be suffering from mental health challenges, too.

"Jodie has made Shona believe that she's hearing things, like Harper's crying," explains our source. "So when Jodie arranges for Doug to be taken away by the doctors, Shona is beside herself.

"She's not just devastated that her father is so ill, but she's terribly worried that she could also be suffering with a similar condition, and what that might mean for her future."

Once Doug is led away to a mental health facility, having warned Shona to watch her back where her sister is concerned, Jodie encounters another problem – Bethany.

The game is up when Bethany catches her red-handed, forcing Jodie to play the ultimate trump card in a bid to cover her tracks. However, while Bethany is silenced for now, Jodie has to think fast when Shona discovers that there's a recording of Harper crying, and starts seeking answers…

"It's seriously dark as Shona is beginning to piece things together, but she's not got the full picture just yet," reveals our insider. "It's at Shona's birthday party at the Bistro that it all kicks off. Lily's phone is put in the docking station and suddenly the sound of Harper's sobs rings out.

"Understandably, Shona jumps to the conclusion that Lily is the person who has been tormenting her. It doesn't matter how much Lily pleads her innocence, Shona is certain she's guilty."

In the aftermath of the Bistro drama, things move to No. 8, where Shona finally confronts Jodie to demand answers. Years of bitterness, grudges and anger come spilling out as the two sisters tear strips off each other – but there's a horrible, final twist…

"Things get completely out of hand when the gun Jodie has been hiding comes into play," explains our source. "This is a life-changing situation, and somebody's world comes crashing down in an instant.

"Worse still, the rest of the Platts get dragged into this, with David being the one to desperately call for an ambulance. Things are looking very bleak for everyone concerned."

As police swarm the house, DS Connor-Swain interviews David about what happened between Shona and Jodie.

But as she asks the questions to piece together the timeline, will manipulated David's account support the truth – or Jodie's lies?
