Terengganu exco man Razali hints at Bersatu exit

Translate

Terengganu executive councillor Razali Idris has hinted at leaving Bersatu for a new party, more than a month after relinquishing his post as Terengganu Bersatu chairman.

The Kijal assemblyman said yesterday marked his final day as a Bersatu leader after 10 years of holding a leadership post in the Umno splinter party.

“Ten years as a Bersatu leader ends today. God willing, I will move forward with a new platform,” the former Bersatu information chief said in a Facebook post.

Razali did not disclose his reason for resigning as Terengganu Bersatu chief in August. He said he would also step down as Marang Bersatu chief in mid-September.

His resignation was followed by that of two other assemblymen as Terengganu Bersatu information chief and treasurer.

Bersatu has faced a string of resignations and has imposed sanctions on multiple leaders following the sacking of former deputy president Hamzah Zainudin in February.

Hamzah subsequently launched Wawasan, which joined the Perikatan Nasional coalition with Pejuang in June.

PAS, which leads PN and the Terengganu government, ended its political cooperation with Bersatu in June – a falling-out that led to PN’s temporary suspension by the Registrar of Societies.
