PNP-HPG reassigns 13 cops in alleged confrontation with BOC agents

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police – Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) on Sunday announced that it has relieved and reassigned personnel involved in an alleged confrontation with agents of the Bureau of Customs (BOC) in Bulacan.

According to the PNP-HPG, the alleged confrontation between its personnel and BOC agents occurred during the destruction of confiscated smuggled cigarettes in Bulacan.

“The PNP-HPG recognizes the seriousness of the allegations and has taken immediate steps to ensure that the incident is properly investigated,” it said.

“Consistent with the PNP’s zero-tolerance policy on misconduct, the personnel involved were relieved from the Regional Highway Patrol Unit-NCR and reassigned to the Human Resource Management and Doctrine Development Division-Personnel Holding and Accounting Section, effective August 20, 2026,” it added.
