CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro — An unscheduled power interruption hit the entire mainland of Occidental Mindoro around 10 a.m. Sunday (August 23), according to the Occidental Mindoro Electric Cooperative (OMECO).

OMECO said the total blackout affected areas in Samarica, Sablayan and MAPSA (Mamburao, Abda de Ilog, Paluan, Santa Cruz).

The power cooperative said troubleshooting was underway at the OMCPC power plant to determine the cause of the shutdown of its generating sets.

OMECO said power restoration will begin once it receives clearance from the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (TransCo) and the power plant.

It added that it is communicating with TransCo, the National Power Corporation (NPC) and OMCPC to restore electricity service in the affected areas while the cause of the outage is being determined. /apl
