Legarda seeks moral support from senators amid plunder allegations, illness -- Lacson

Senator Loren Legarda has sought moral support from her fellow senators amid plunder allegations over incomplete solar energy projects worth P10.44 billion and a health issue she is facing, Senator Panfilo Lacson said on Sunday.

“Nagkausap kami ni Senator Loren. Twice na kaming nagkakausap. Wala naman siyang nabanggit kung siya ay babalik o hindi,” Lacson told Super Radyo dzBB on Sunday.

(Legarda and I talked twice. She has not mentioned whether she will return to the country or not.)

“Ang appeal niya sa amin, bilang kasamahan sa Senado, parang humingi lang siya ng moral support,” he added.

(Her appeal to us, as her fellow senators, was simply for moral support.)

Lacson explained that Legarda is seeking moral support due to the matters she is currently facing.

“Yung kinalalagyan niya sa ngayon. Siyempre na babash, lahat. Pinapaliwanag niya na meron siya dinaramdam. ‘Yun yung naging tono ng aming usapan. Syempre, nag-express ako ng moral support, ‘I wish you well.’ Sana malampasan niya ‘yung 'di lang ‘yung kanyang health issues pati ‘yung kinakaharap niyang problema,” Lacson said.

(She has been receiving criticism. She said she is also dealing with health issues. That was essentially the tone of our conversation. Of course, I expressed my moral support and told her, “I wish you well.” I hope she can overcome not only her health issues but also the problems she is currently facing.)

Legarda and her son, Batangas Representative Leandro Leviste, have already filed their counter-affidavit, according to Ombudsman Jesus Crispin "Boying" Remulla.

Ahead of the Ombudsman investigation, the Department of Energy (DOE) already filed a complaint against Leviste and five officials of the Solar Para sa Bayan Corporation (SPBC) for alleged violations of the Public Service Act before the Justice Department.

Remulla said that from what they know, the mother and son are still in Paris, but they have also gone to Switzerland.

Legarda is on extended medical leave from the Senate due to what the she said is a lung-related illness.

Both Legarda and Leviste have previously denied any wrongdoing. —RF, GMA News
