KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 4 — Issues concerning national security amid rising military tensions in the Asia-Pacific region, the future governance of universities following the repeal of the Universities and University Colleges Act 1971 (UUCA) and efforts to tackle misleading advertisements for badal haj services are among the matters to be raised in the Dewan Rakyat today.

According to the Order Paper on Parliament’s official website, William Leong Jee Keen (PH-Selayang) will ask the Defence Minister during the Questions for Oral Answers session about the government’s stance on rising tensions and military escalation in the Asia-Pacific region, particularly measures to safeguard national security and maintain stability within Asean.

Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (BN-Bera) will seek clarification from the Higher Education Minister on how the government will ensure that the repeal of UUCAdoes not create legislative gaps or uncertainty in university administration, as well as the key principles underpinning the proposed One Higher Education Act.

Abdul Latiff Abdul Rahman (PN-Kuala Krai) will ask the Prime Minister to outline the government’s mechanisms for conducting preliminary checks on advertisers’ identities, company status, licences, payment recipient accounts and the validity of claims concerning the performance of badal haj before such advertisements are promoted to the public.

Aminolhuda Hassan (PH-Sri Gading) will also ask the Prime Minister to identify the remaining 25 per cent of recommendations made by the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) on Tabung Haji that have yet to be implemented, as well as the target timeframe and action plan to ensure their full implementation.

Following the Questions for Oral Answers session, the Dewan Rakyat will resume the committee-stage debate and ministerial replies on the Supply Bill (Budget) 2027.

According to the Dewan Rakyat calendar, the Committee Stage debate on the 2027 Budget runs from Nov 2 to 26.
