PN to get exco posts if BN wins Melaka polls, says Zahid

Barisan Nasional will allocate roles in the Melaka executive council to Perikatan Nasional if their alliance succeeds in winning the Nov 14 state election, says BN chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Zahid said this aligns with the electoral cooperation agreed by both coalitions, and is similar to the pact they had in Negeri Sembilan, Berita Harian reported.
“We will take the same approach and invite PN representatives who win their seats to be a part of the state government, if we form the government,” he said.
The Umno president said both BN and PN have signed a memorandum of understanding for the state polls, with their respective machinery and supporters to be mobilised to support each other’s candidates.
Zahid acknowledged that there may be some “issues” at the grassroots level as the deal was inked rather late.
“Therefore leaders of both coalitions will go down to the ground to coordinate and refine our machinery’s workflow at the relevant localities, polling districts, and constituencies,” he said.
BN is contesting 23 seats while PN is on the ballot for the remaining five.
In the Negeri Sembilan polls, BN contested 25 seats while PN fielded 11 candidates. The alliance secured a two-thirds majority after winning 25 of the 36 seats in the state assembly.
