Thailand men’s volleyball team falls to Iran at Asian Games
AICHI, Japan — 28 September 2026, Thailand’s men’s volleyball team suffered a straight-set defeat to defending champions Iran in their second Group B match at the 20th Asian Games in Japan.
The match was played at Okazaki Chuo Sogo Park Gymnasium on 28 September, with world No. 52 Thailand taking on world No. 19 Iran, the defending champions and three-time Asian Games gold medalists.
Thailand head coach Park Ki-won of South Korea named Thuppradit Phraphut, Suwit Mahasiri-yothin, Boonyarit Wongthorn, Kiatphum Ramsin, Anurak Phanram and Chaiwat Thungkam in the starting six, with Nakarin Inthanou playing as libero.
Thailand battled hard but struggled to match Iran’s strength, eventually losing 0–3, with Iran taking the sets 25–18, 25–18 and 25–15.
Thailand remain third in Group B with 2 points from two matches, while Iran moved to the top with 6 points after two wins.
Thailand will play their final Group B match against Kyrgyzstan on 29 September at 08:00 Thailand time.
