WATCH: Sara Duterte impeachment trial | Sept. 16, 2026

Translate

MANILA, Philippines – On Day 26 of Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment trial, four retired Supreme Court justices are set to appear as amici curiae before the Senate impeachment court on Wednesday, as senator-judges revisit whether 16 votes remain necessary to convict the vice president.

The four amici curiae or friends of the court are expected to weigh in on how the Constitution’s two-thirds voting requirement should apply to senators who are detained, absent or unable to participate in the trial./dp
