Twenty-two years after its anime premiered in October 2004, Bleach officially comes to an end this week with the series finale of Thousand-Year Blood War Part 4 – The Calamity. The finale was originally expected much earlier, but Studio Pierrot and Pierrot Films made the decision to delay the final two episodes by a month, giving the production team more time to improve the quality of the anime's closing stretch. It was an extra wait that nobody particularly wanted, but after following Ichigo Kurosaki's fight for so many years, getting the finale right matters more than rushing it out.

Returning in 2022 after a decade-long break, Thousand-Year Blood War gave the franchise the comeback longtime fans had been waiting for. With director Tomohisa Taguchi at the helm and Tite Kubo closely involved, the adaptation has expanded on the manga with new fights, added scenes, and extra lore that give the final arc more room to breathe.

Now, after last week's "The Blade," which brought Soul Reapers, Arrancars, and Quincies together for the final battle across the three realms, everything is heading toward one last showdown. Ichigo and his allies still have Yhwach to deal with, and the fate of the Soul Society rests on Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War episode #50 (part 4, episode #10).

Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War episode #50, titled "DEATH & STRAWBERRY," is set to premiere on Monday, October 26, 2026, at 8:30 AM PT. The title is a full-circle callback to "Death and the Strawberry," the very first chapter of Tite Kubo's manga, making it a fitting choice for the anime's final episode. The finale will stream on Hulu in the US, Disney+ internationally, and Netflix across select Asian regions. Meanwhile, the English dub will arrive later, with the final two episodes scheduled to drop on November 23 and November 30. Bleach's Ichigo VS Yhwach in Thousand-Year Blood War

Following the events of episode #49, "The Blade," the finale will bring Ichigo Kurosaki's long battle against Yhwach to its conclusion. There's also more to look forward to than just the final clash. The episode is expected to adapt the manga's closing chapters while adding anime-original material, giving the series room for a proper farewell to its longtime cast. Without getting into the big reveals, the story also looks beyond the immediate aftermath of the war, offering a glimpse of what comes next for the next generation.

And this might not be the last time fans see the Bleach universe. Back in 2021, Kubo released a 73-page anniversary one-shot, No Breaths From Hell, which teased a possible new storyline involving Hell. There's no confirmed continuation or release date yet, and Kubo has made it clear that he won't rush into drawing more chapters. Still, that unanswered cliffhanger gives fans something to hold on to. After four parts and years of waiting, Thousand-Year Blood War is finally getting its anime finale, and that's a pretty big moment for one of shonen's legendary Big Three.

An Official Jump Festa 2027 Panel Proves The Bleach Franchise Isn't Going Anywhere Just Yet

Bleach's Ichigo Kurosaki In A New Visual Poster

For years after the original anime ended in 2012, Bleach had to deal with questions about whether it still deserved its place alongside One Piece and Naruto in Shonen Jump's legendary "Big Three." But Thousand-Year Blood War has given the franchise the biggest comeback, bringing Kubo's final arc to life with expanded scenes, new fights, and the kind of animation fans had been waiting years to see. And even with the anime finale arriving this week, there are already a couple of dates worth keeping an eye on.

The first is Jump Festa 2027 on December 19 and 20. Bleach has an officially confirmed Jump Studio panel on December 20, from 3:10 to 3:40 PM JST, making it the next major opportunity for franchise news.

Then comes BLEACH FES. on February 27 and 28, 2027, at Makuhari Messe. The two-day celebration will bring together 15 voice actors, including Masakazu Morita, Sho Hayami, and Junichi Suwabe, alongside a new Masashi Kudo visual inspired by the manga's first volume. If there's more to come for the Soul Society, these are the dates to watch.
