Woman Paralyzed After Man Falls from Tree on Her During Knocked Loose Set at Louder Than Life

A woman has been left paralyzed from the waist down after a man fell from a tree on top of her during Knocked Loose’s set at the Louder Than Life festival in Louisville on Friday.

Jamie Ulshoffer was at the four-day fest with her husband, and while she was watching the Kentucky hardcore band play a set at a side stage, a man apparently fell from a tree and landed on her.

She was transported to UofL Hospital, where she is currently in the ICU. A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to help her, raising nearly $10,000 as of this posting.

“I can’t feel my feet. Can’t do anything that I used to,” she told local ABC affiliate WHAS11. “I’m not going to be able to play with the kids.”

Her husband Conor added, “We were actually at the backside of the tent and there’s four trees in the back… We were on the back right corner. I turn around and see her on her back… Then everyone said some dude fell out of a tree.”

According to her husband, Jamie was already dealing with bulging and herniated discs from a 2020 car accident. He spine was apparently severed as a result of the Louder Than Life incident.

Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg noted, “Anytime somebody is injured at one of our events, I feel for them. I’m sorry that happened. I don’t know all the circumstances of the individual falling out of a tree, but certainly you’re not supposed to be in the trees at a festival.”

On Tuesday, police reported that there would be no criminal investigation into the incident, and that this is a civil matter. Apparently, one of the tree limbs broke, causing the man to fall on top of Jamie.

Despite her condition, Jamie says she is willing to forgive the man who fell from the tree, saying, “He shouldn’t have been up there. Definitely after it just rained, too. Stupid decision. You did this, but I’ll forgive.”

Danny Wimmer Presents, the festival’s organizer, stated, “Due to patient privacy, we are unable to comment on or provide additional details regarding specific medical incidents.”

Knocked Loose had been added to Louder Than Life as a surprise performer a little more than a week before the fest started.
