IGP: Police probing Negri Sembilan royal institution issue, may involve sedition

BUTTERWORTH: Police are investigating several reports linked to the royal institution in Negri Sembilan, with more possibly involving sedition.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail said police have summoned several individuals to have their statements recorded, including those who could assist as witnesses in the investigation.

"Police are investigating. Once we have completed the investigation papers, we will submit them to the Attorney General for further action," he said.

Mohd Khalid said the reports were being examined under several possible legal provisions, including the Sedition Act, although the applicable sections had yet to be determined comprehensively.

He said police have not yet summoned any former state executive councillors on Sunday, dismissing reports that the process had begun.
