Bill Hader To Guest Star On ‘Abbott Elementary’ This Season

Translate

Bill Hader will make a guest appearance on ABC’s Abbott Elementary this season, though no word yet on character, plot or other details.

Hader made the announcement during his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night but gave away no details. “I’m excited,” he deadpanned, leaving us to guess the rest.

The guest appearance makes sense given that Hader and Abbott creator and actor Quinta Brunson recently teamed up for the upcoming animated film The Cat in the Hat, providing the voices of, respectively, The Cat and a new character named Sherri.

Warner Bros. Animation’s The Cat in the Hat opens in theaters on Nov. 6.

Hader was most seen in Larry David’s Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness – he played Abe Lincoln – and even more recently appears as himself in the current Netflix documentary SCTV: The Greatest Show You’ve Never Heard Of, a film exec produced by Kimmel that traces the history of the groundbreaking and beloved comedy sketch show.

Hader, though a lifelong fan of SCTV, is best known for the eight seasons he spent on rival Saturday Night Live from 2005 to 2013. He also created and starred in the HBO series Barry from 2019 to 2023, earning two Emmy Awards.

Abbott Elementary airs Wednesdays at 8:30 p.m. on ABC, streaming the next day on Hulu.

Watch Hader’s appearance on Kimmel below. His discussion of Abbott Elementary comes around the 12:10 mark.
