Indonesia targets Rp2.6 T geothermal non-tax revenue

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Ministry targets Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) from geothermal energy to reach Rp2.6 trillion in 2026, up from Rp2.46 trillion recorded in 2025.

“The target for this year has indeed increased. We are optimistic about reaching Rp2.6 trillion, given the significant amount of drilling that needs to be carried out,” Eniya Listiani Dewi, an official at the ministry, said in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Dewi noted that geothermal energy is the only segment of the new and renewable energy (EBT) sector that contributes to PNBP.

In addition to increasing PNBP, Dewi said she is targeting US$1.1 billion in investment in the geothermal sector in 2026.

“That figure (US$1.1 billion) is for 2026 alone. Looking ahead, we hope that with new auctions, investment could reach up to US$2.2 billion, or approximately Rp39 trillion,” Dewi stated.

At the Indonesia International Geothermal Convention & Exhibition (IIGCE) 2026, the government awarded geothermal working area (WKP) licenses to PLN for the Mount Ungaran Geothermal Working Area and to PT Telaga Rano Geothermal for the Telaga Ranu WKP.

The government is also preparing to offer five geothermal working areas (WKPs) and seven Preliminary Survey and Exploration Assignment Areas (WPSPEs) in 2026.

The five geothermal working areas being prepared for tender are Danau Ranau, Hamiding, Songgoriti, Oka Ile Ange, and Mount Sirung, with combined resources of approximately 304 megawatts (MW) and planned capacity of around 145 MW.

The planned capacity comprises 40 MW at Danau Ranau, 50 MW at Hamiding, 40 MW at Songgoriti, 10 MW at Oka Ile Ange, and 5 MW at Mount Sirung.

Meanwhile, the seven WPSPE areas comprise Talamau and Simisiuh in West Sumatra, Srirejo in Lampung, Lili Seporaki in West Sulawesi, Maranda Kawende in Central Sulawesi, Massepe Sulili in South Sulawesi, and Banda Baru in Maluku.

The seven areas have combined resources of approximately 321 MW and total probable reserves of around 247 MW.
