The role of Jill Foster-Abbott on The Young and the Restless is now played by Jess Walton, but the role was originated by Brenda Dickson. The actor portrayed the feisty character from 1973 to 1987. She gained massive love and popularity, but when it was over, it also became her last onscreen role.

Brenda made big accusations against Y&R creator William Bell, accusing him of blacklisting her, which led to her never getting work again. In her 2013 memoir titled My True Hidden Hollywood Story, she shared her side of the story. She also disclosed several allegations through social media.

Brenda’s memoir titled My True Hidden Hollywood Story: My Memoir of Sexual Harassment, Blacklisting, and Love Affairs With the Most Powerful Men in Hollywood was released in January 2013. Per the description, the book sheds light on “shocking, behind-the-scenes details” of her life while she starred on The Young and the Restless for 12 years and won many awards.

In April 2016, the soap star took to her Facebook and spoke at length about what happened. Brenda started off, “They blacklisted me because I was too popular.” She claimed that eight million people left watching the soap opera and never returned as its audience again after she exited. 

Brenda continued that the producers did not want her face on another show because she was one of the highest-paid and most popular actresses. She then alleged, “I was free to work anywhere, unless you are dealing with mafia-like producers.” The daytime face added that the producers even got involved in her divorce and wanted her to be helpless.

Brenda accused, “They laundered a 5.5 million dollar estate through a fake bankruptcy, helping my ex-husband also launder a 3 million dollar undeclared income through the bankruptcy court. They left me homeless.”

The veteran mentioned that their goal was to ensure she was helpless to fight the blacklisting and bankruptcy. She added that the producers illegally evicted her from houses, leaving her homeless. Brenda concluded her post by calling this whole harassment an insane and unconstitutional fraud.
