Nicolas Cage says he's 'currently a little bit homeless' after sinkhole damaged his $10.5million Malibu mansion

Nicolas Cage opened up about his current living situation during an appearance at Los Angeles Comic Con Saturday, as a sinkhole significantly damaged his Malibu, California mansion less than two months ago.
The Oscar-winning actor, 62, made the reveal after he was asked about his Halloween plans, saying that he's 'currently a little bit homeless.'
The star of films such as Madden, Face/Off and The Rock said that 'something happened to my house in Malibu so I'm just sort of living in hotels.'
In September, a sinkhole devastated the $10.5 million home after it opened up in front of the residence and swallowed up the driveway.
A combination of coastal erosion and strong storms led to parts of the oceanfront home sinking in the ground, with images taken from the scene depicting a hole in the driveway of the mansion, Page Six reported Monday.
The Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Cage for comment but has not yet heard back.

The area of the mansion near its enclosed garage showed cracked slabs of asphalt and concrete having fallen into the ground.
Cage's neighbors were evacuated from the area amid the dangerous conditions caused by the sinkhole, according to the outlet.
The 'hazardous conditions' led to seven homes on the same street being declared unsafe to occupy, the outlet reported, adding that officials red-tagged another 24 houses in the area due to unsafe conditions for vehicles to access the area.
Malibu officials said on the city's website that the designations were made amid 'the loss of access for Fire and Sheriff's personnel to respond to medical, fire or law enforcement emergencies.'
Local officials said that 'the collapse of a beachfront driveway extended into the roadway, blocking resident and emergency access.'
Cage in September took action to save his home from growing destruction, according to Page Six, as he filed three permits days after the sinkhole appeared - including an emergency building permit with city officials.
Other permits proposed the removal of sinkhole-related asphalt debris in anticipation of shoring installation and excavation for soil sample collection; all permits were approved.

Should wealthy homeowners get special treatment when disaster strikes their luxury properties?
Firefighters discovered the property's collapsed driveway in early September after responding to a suspected gas main break and the 30ft by 30ft sinkhole also swallowed up a fence, a portable restroom and a portion of the adjacent street.
By October, the sinkhole appeared to have grown from its initial 30ft by 30ft measurements, encompassing the side of the home and approaching the front door, according to the outlet.
The home, purchased by Cage for $10.5 million in 2024, now bears little resemblance to the luxurious, multi-million dollar property it once was.
Located in a highly desirable oceanfront setting, the home contains a rooftop deck with jacuzzi, soaring glass walls and multiple bedrooms.
The residence provides access to an isolated beach, chef's kitchen and garage with elevator access.
The home was built in the 1990s by the late Jose Liberman, co-founder of the Liberman Broadcasting, and remained in his family until it was sold to Cage.

Born Nicolas Kim Coppola, Cage is the son of the late American academic and author August Coppola as well as the nephew of filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola and his actress sister Talia Shire.
The family includes Cage's cousins, filmmaker Sofia Coppola and actor Jason Schwartzman.
His grandparents were composer Carmine Coppola, who scored many of Francis's films, and Italia Coppola, who also appeared in her son's Godfather films.
Over the decades, Cage has carved out an impressive acting resume with roles in films Moonstruck, Raising Arizona, Gone in 60 Seconds, National Treasure and an Oscar win for Leaving Las Vegas.
In 2021, Cage walked down the aisle a fifth time when he wed his much-younger wife Riko Shibata, 31. They welcomed daughter August Francesca in 2022.
The actor is also father to sons Kal-El, 21, with ex-wife Kim and Weston, 35, with ex-girlfriend Christina Fulton.
