Saitabao Ole Kanchory Endorses Edwin Sifuna for 2027 Presidency
Prominent ODM politician Saitabao Ole Kanchory has endorsed Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna’s potential presidential bid in the 2027 General Election, urging Kenyans to rally behind him.
Kanchory made the announcement in a post on X on Thursday, November 5, saying he had listened to public opinion and concluded that Sifuna was the preferred candidate.
“Fellow Kenyans, I’ve heard you loud & clear. The voice of the people is the voice of God. The people cannot be wrong. Sifuna IT IS. So let’s all rally behind him and give him all the support he needs,” Kanchory wrote.
Kanchory’s Political Influence
The endorsement is significant given Kanchory’s previous role in the opposition and his association with the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Kanchory served as Raila’s chief presidential agent during the 2022 General Election, when the former Prime Minister contested under the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party.
His public backing of Sifuna therefore adds to the growing political attention surrounding the senator’s possible presidential ambitions, particularly among figures who were previously associated with Raila’s political camp.
Sifuna, who also serves as ODM secretary general, has increasingly featured in discussions about the opposition’s leadership ahead of the 2027 polls.
Linda Mwananchi Movement Leads Online Poll
Meanwhile, the Linda Mwananchi Movement (LMM) has registered a strong showing in an online poll conducted by Politrack Africa News, emerging ahead of three established political parties.
The poll, shared on the research firm’s verified X account on Wednesday, November 4, asked respondents to identify their favourite among four political parties.
LMM emerged at the top with 84.8% of the votes, translating to 13,311 responses out of the reported total of 15,660.
The Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) came second with 7.1%, representing 1,096 votes, while President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) received 4.9%, or 783 votes.
ODM, led by Siaya Senator Oburu Oginga, finished fourth with 3.2%, equivalent to 470 votes.
The results point to a strong showing for LMM among participants in the online poll as political movements and established parties position themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election.
