Ex-Inquirer correspondent Eric Jimenez dies at 57

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Philippines — Former Philippine Daily Inquirer correspondent Eric Jimenez died of complications from chronic kidney disease on Sunday, according to his family. He was 57.

A graduate of Mass Communications at Angeles University Foundation in Angeles City, Jimenez wrote for and edited the newsweekly The Angeles Sun. He also served as a news correspondent for GMA News and wrote for Kapampangan Magazine.

As a former president of the Pampanga Press Club, he worked to improve the well-being of its members.

The Pampanga Press Club, in a tribute, described Jimenez as “a mentor, a colleague, and a friend to many.”

Served with integrity

The group said he was more than a member of the press, describing him as a journalist who “served with integrity and heart.”

“Our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. You will be missed, but your legacy will live on in the stories we continue to tell. You will always be part of our story,” the press club said.

Jimenez later joined the Clark Development Corporation’s (CDC) public affairs department, where he eventually became its head. He went on to lead the CDC’s estate preservation and recovery division.

“We honor his years of dedicated service to CDC and extend our deepest condolences to his family, loved ones, and colleagues,” CDC said in a separate tribute. /cb
