Police arrested nine people for rioting outside a cafe in Desa Tun Razak, Sungai Besi in Kuala Lumpur after a dispute over a stall space in the area.

In a statement, Kuala Lumpur police chief Fadil Marsus said the incident, involving eight men and one woman, occurred in front of a cafe in Desa Tun Razak around 11pm yesterday.

Preliminary investigations found that the brawl was caused by a misunderstanding over the stall space.

“Police arrested nine suspects aged 16 to 44 at the scene. Two of them are the main suspects.

“Checks found that most of them have records of criminal and narcotics offences. Police also confiscated several items believed to have been used in the incident,” he said.

The case is being probed for rioting with a weapon under Section 148 of the Penal Code.
