Translate

Aug 23 - Bangladesh were 95 for eight in their second innings at tea on day two of the second test against Australia in Mackay on Sunday, needing 51 runs to make the hosts bat again.

• Bangladesh lost five wickets after resuming at 39 for three after lunch, with pacemen Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins taking two wickets apiece and spinner Nathan Lyon clinching the key dismissal of captain Najmul Hossain Shanto for 31.

• Number four batter Shanto bungled a lofted drive off Lyon to give Starc an easy catch at long-off.

• Left-arm paceman Starc had wicketkeeper Litton Das caught in the slips for a second successive duck and later bowled tailender Taijul Islam for 11.

• Cummins dismissed all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz for one and Hasan Mahmud for two.

• Starc took two wickets in successive balls in the first session, having opener Shadman Islam caught for one before bowling Mominul Haque for a duck when the number three failed to play a shot.

• Opener Tanzid Hasan was caught for nine by Starc at deep fine leg after a miscued pull shot off the bowling of Cummins.

• Australia were bowled out for 210 in reply to Bangladesh's 64 on day one, to set a 146-run lead.

• Bangladesh's recalled fast bowler Shoriful Islam took a seventh wicket after dismissing Cameron Green lbw for 67 with an in-swinging yorker. Shoriful finished with 7-48, the best innings haul for a Bangladesh bowler in an away test.

• Bangladesh lead the two-match series 1-0 after thrashing Australia by nine wickets in Darwin. REUTERS
