Stephen Colbert to Make Late-Night Return as Guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live

For the first time since signing off as host of The Late Show, Stephen Colbert is returning to late-night television. Colbert is set to appear as a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday, September 15th.

Colbert’s appearance will air the night after the 2026 Emmys, where both he and Kimmel are nominated for Outstanding Talk Series. The two hosts have been publicly campaigning for each other ahead of the ceremony: Kimmel took out a billboard declaring he was “voting for Stephen,” while Colbert recently appeared on Instagram to encourage viewers to support Kimmel.
