Sivasangari wins Silicon Valley Open title

National squash player S Sivasangari has clinched the Silicon Valley Open 2026 title by easily defeating Egypt’s Farida Mohamed in straight games.
In her second consecutive final at the tournament played in Redwood City, California, last night, the world No 4 took just 31 minutes to overcome her opponent, ranked 20th, by a score of 11-7, 11-6, 11-8.
The victory made amends for Sivasangari, who lost in last year’s final to American Olivia Weaver.
This is Sivasangari’s fourth Gold-level title and her first Professional Squash Association (PSA) title of the season, Bernama reported.
“I told myself ‘I want to break through and go into the semis of the Platinum events’, which I’ve already done at the start of this season. So now I have to go one step higher and try to win a Platinum-level tournament,” she told the PSA Squash Tour.
Last month, Sivangari retained her Asian Games women’s singles title in Japan and also helped Malaysia to win the women’s team gold.
By winning the Asian Games gold, the 27-year-old Kedah-born player also secured her qualification for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
