Woman suffers acid burns after alleged attack by boyfriend

Translate

A woman in her 20s suffered burns on Tuesday after her boyfriend allegedly splashed her with acid because she wanted to end their relationship.

Petaling Jaya police chief Shamsudin Mamat said both the victim and the suspect were foreigners.

“The victim is being treated for burns at Universiti Malaya Medical Centre,” he was quoted as saying by Sinar Harian.

Shamsudin said police were tracking down the suspect and had recorded statements from several witnesses to assist in the investigation.

The case is being investigated for causing grievous hurt under Section 325 of the Penal Code, which provides for imprisonment of not more than seven years and a fine upon conviction.
