Hollywood is getting ready for its next video game adaptation on the big screen, this time based on an iconic Capcom property that is no stranger to filmgoers.

Throughout the decades, TV shows and movies based on video games have had their many ups and downs, with some becoming critical and commercial bombs, while others have emerged as successes for various studios and networks. The new Resident Evil film is heading into theaters this week, marking Zach Cregger's latest release after Weapons. As critics have begun to share their reviews for the movie, based on the popular video game franchise, its Rotten Tomatoes score has debuted at 98%.
