10 areas in Sarawak, four in other states record unhealthy API readings at 9am

KUALA LUMPUR: As of 9am today, 14 areas across the country, including 10 in Sarawak, recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings due to haze.

According to the Malaysian Air Pollutant Index Management System portal, the areas in Sarawak with unhealthy API readings are Sibu (178), Sri Aman (169), Mukah (168), IPD Serian (160), Kuching (157), Samalaju, Bintulu, Kapit and Sarikei (all 156) and Samarahan (155).

Unhealthy API readings were also recorded in Putrajaya (151), Shah Alam (109), Nilai (108) and Politeknik Kota Kinabalu, Sabah (103).

Overall, 51 areas recorded moderate API readings, while three areas recorded good air quality.

API readings of 0 to 50 indicate good air quality, 51 to 100 indicate moderate air quality, 101 to 200 indicate unhealthy air quality, 201 to 300 indicate very unhealthy air quality, and readings of 301 and above indicate hazardous air quality.
